While Fall means cooler weather in the majority of the country, Del Mar delivers summer sun with crisp breezes during the Halloween and Thanksgiving months, perfect for an indulgent day-trip. From dawn to dusk, we’ve laid out the most relaxing and fun guide for your day-trip to Del Mar this Fall.
9am- Coffee at Patisserie Del Mar
Start your day with a sip of coffee at Patisserie Del Mar, newly opened in the south end of the Village. Their featured signature Bombay Latte with Cardamom Syrup is an oh-so-delicious alternative to Fall’s usual pumpkin flavored options.
10am- Spa at L’Auberge Del Mar
Once you’ve settled into the neighborhood, take a relaxing detour to Condé Nast Traveler’s “Top 25 Spas in the US,” the Spa at L’Auberge Del Mar. Relieve overworked or aching muscles with a full-body massage, or exfoliate and refresh the skin with customized facials. Their monthly specials for October include a Purifying Pumpkin Facial, an Almond Biscotti Manicure and a Fall Awakening Body Ritual.
12pm- Lunch at Jake’s
Jake’s Del Mar, a seaside seafood restaurant, beside the family-friendly Powerhouse Park has some of the most upscale lunch options Del Mar has to offer. The view out of the large windows immerse you into the beach scene as you enjoy their specialty Jumbo Lump Crab Cake or Panko Crusted Albacore.
2pm- Walk and Play at North Beach (Dog Beach)
It is time to put that lunch to good use! North Beach, locally known as Dog Beach for being dog-friendly, offers a clean and uncrowded option for walking along the shore and bluffs. The beach volleyball courts are a fun place to show off your competitive side with friends and family, all you need is a net and ball. North Beach is also the best place to take pictures of the beautiful low tides and north bluffs to share on Instagram or Facebook.
4pm- Shopping on 15th St.
Shop around for Fall attire with clothing from Joni Annd Susi and Rusty Del Mar, located right beside Seagrove Park on West 15th Street. New boutique, Joni Annd Susi, currently has the best selection of fun Fall denim. Staple surf shop, Rusty Del Mar, is stocked with Fall surf and street wear, keeping you warm and on-trend in & out of the water.
Sunset- Il Fornaio Ocean-View Deck
Enjoy the array of colors in the sky and the stretch of the Pacific from Il Fornaio Del Mar’s balcony at the Del Mar Plaza. The outdoor bar area is the secret gem of Del Mar’s golden hour. The menu consists of traditional Italian cuisine; a thin-crust pizza made with homemade dough and mozzarella, and freshmade pastas on site are just some of the dishes they have to offer.
