5 Things We’re Looking Forward to During San Diego Restaurant Week
Just when you thought life in Del Mar couldn’t get any better, San Diego Restaurant Week (SDRW) begins. For two weeks every year (one week in January and one in September), more than 180 restaurants all over San Diego, including some of Del Mar’s most popular spots, offer prix fixe menus at discounted prices. This month, SDRW will run from January 20 - January 28. With so much to look forward to, it’s one of our favorite times of the year. From casual to elegant, and wood-fired pizza to pepper-crusted sea bass, there’s something to satisfy everyone’s appetite. Here are five things we’re especially excited about this time around.
Indulging in Italian at Il Fornaio Del Mar
There’s something about Italian food that feels so indulgent—especially when paired with a bottle of wine.
transports you to Italy with its authentic Italian dishes and romantic, yet casual atmosphere. Il Fornaio offers so much more than pasta. Make Restaurant Week your chance to try the wood-fired pizza, rotisserie and grilled meats, house-made soups, fresh salads, and yes, the made-from-scratch pasta. Just be sure to save room for dessert, since that’s also included on the Restaurant Week special menus.Lunch: $20 | Dinner: $40 /
Finding a New Favorite at Jake’s Del Mar
is a local favorite—and for good reason. Its beachfront location and lively atmosphere can’t be beat. We definitely recommend making a reservation if you’re planning on dining at Jake’s for dinner; the restaurant will also be providing a SDRW menu for lunch, when it’s likely to be a little less crowded. If you’ve been here before, you probably already have a go-to dish, but since it’s Restaurant Week, take advantage, venture outside your usual and try something new—you might just find another favorite.Lunch: $20 | Dinner: $40 /
Trying the Best of Coastal Cuisine at Pacifica Del Mar
is known for its seafood. In fact, it’s received many prestigious accolades—including “Best Seafood Dining in San Diego” by the California Restaurant Association and Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence. For SDRW, the restaurant will be featuring special menus for both lunch and dinner, which means two times the opportunity to try their mouthwatering selections of fresh seafood. Don’t forget to make a reservation so you can watch the sun set over the ocean with your meal.Lunch: $20 | Dinner: $40 /

Dining Seaside at Poseidon on the Beach
You can’t get any closer to dining on the beach than with a table at
. The breathtaking views are second to none, and the dishes are just as beautiful. Each one uses high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients, and in true California fashion, emphasizes fresh seafood. Their SDRW menu will include salmon, seafood linguini, and scallops, in addition to lamb, short ribs, and flat iron steak—so your cravings for surf and turf will both be covered. Grabbing a Deal & Exploring Del Mar
No matter where you dine, San Diego Restaurant Week is an excellent time to try something new. Most of the prix fixe menus highlight the restaurants’ most popular dishes, and often at a lower price than you’d pay at other times of the year. Of course, Del Mar’s restaurants aren’t the only reason to visit the city. January’s temperatures average in the high 60s, so after you take advantage of SDRW, throw on a jacket and take a walk around the Village. Or, plan an entire weekend in Del Mar and explore the lunch and dinner options, as well as hiking, shopping, and beach activities. For more information on Del Mar Village’s dining options and activities, visit our dine page.
