Whether you’re getting a jump on planning a special night out for Valentine’s Day or want a romantic rendezvous for you and your sweetheart, Del Mar offers breathtaking, seaside views and delectable dishes that bring the romance any time of year. Our restaurants are always top-notch, but they really shine when it comes to a romantic dinner for two. Whatever the occasion, these are a few of our favorite places for a candlelit and intimate dining experience you won’t soon forget:

Jake’s Del Mar

1660 Coast Blvd | Del Mar, CA | 92014858-755-2002

Fresh fish right on the beach, with your loved one? Yes, please. Located steps from the Pacific, Jake’s Del Mar offers picturesque sunset views and a menu packed with locally sourced American cuisine and seafood dishes. Because the place can get pretty busy, we recommend making a reservation so you don’t keep your date waiting. If you do have to wait, or if you show up for your reservation a little early, you can always grab a cocktail at the outside bar and enjoy the ocean views on Jake’s patio.

Coastline

1540 Camino Del Mar | Del Mar, CA  | 92014(858) 793-6460

Dine under romantic market lights as you watch the colors fade from the sky. Coastline, located on L'Auberge Del Mar's oceanview deck, offers a casual, fun atmosphere to enjoy delicacies such as salmon with toasted almonds and green apple or New York strip steak with salsa verde.

Beeside Balcony

1201 Camino Del Mar #200 | Del Mar, CA | 92014(858) 481-9889

We know your loved one makes you feel warm and fuzzy--however, the warm pita at Beeside Balcony will be a worthy competitor. Freshly made to order and topped with Greek spices, you may have to order (two or three...or four?) extra sides of pita to go with their delicious Trio of Dips. Make sure to save room for the baklava ice-cream cake: a unique spin on a traditional Greek dessert, made with phyllo dough, honey, walnuts, and cinnamon. You and your better half will be(e) charmed by Beeside Balcony's amazing food and sea views.

Coya Peruvian Secret

1140 Camino Del Mar | Del Mar, CA | 92014(858) 792-0821

Once you step into Coya Peruvian Secret, it won't be a secret why this restaurant made the list. Regardless of whether you deem Peruvian food to be romantic, there’s no denying the intimate atmosphere at Coya Peruvian Secret. The indoor-outdoor café is covered by flowering bougainvillea trees that give it a quaint, European feel with charming character. Start your meal with Pulpito (octopus) or Scallops, enjoy your entrée, and don’t forget to share Cuatro Leches or Alfajores for dessert. For just a few hours, you’ll forget you’re in Del Mar and instead be transported to a magical, far off destination.

Pacifica Del Mar

1555 Camino Del Mar | Del Mar, CA | 92014(858) 792-0476

Pacifica Del Mar's romantic ambiance and breathtaking sea views are the perfect backdrops for its highly acclaimed cuisine. Before indulging in one of their incredibly fresh seafood dishes (like swordfish, lobster, scallops, just to name a few), relax with a signature cocktail at the bar, which also boasts more than 100 of the world’s finest vodkas. When it comes time for dinner, make sure you ask your waiter for the perfect wine to pair with your meal—Pacifica’s list of local and international wines is impressive. And if you plan your reservation right, you can opt for their Sunset Dinner tasting menu (served until 6 p.m.).

Enoteca Del Fornaio

1555 Camino Del Mar |  Del Mar, CA  | 92014(858) 755-8876

After spending the day shopping in Del Mar Plaza, unwind at Enoteca Del Fornaio with a delicious Italian appetizer and a glass of wine. Located on the Plaza deck, steps from sister restaurant Il Fornaio, Enoteca Del Fornaio boasts stunning views of the Pacific and a fabulous wine bar. Live music at nighttime sets the romantic mood, so you and your better half are guaranteed to have a perfect night. If you’re looking to extend your romantic evening and turn it into a weekend getaway, there are plenty of other ways to keep the romance flowing long after dinner. Book your stay at L’Auberge or Hotel Indigo to make the most of your time in the Village. The next morning, you can start your day with a delicious brunch and a long, romantic walk on the beach. Or, head out for a daytime picnic or hike, and finish your trip with a couple’s massage at the spa.
