The Ultimate Del Mar Village Day Trip Guide for Spring

A day trip to Del Mar might just be the best way to celebrate the warmer weather and sunnier skies of spring. The Village is a little quieter in the spring (compared to summer, at least), but the higher temperatures mean you can spend the entire day basking in the sun. Want to make the most of the longer spring days while visiting our seaside town? Here’s the best way to spend a day in the Del Mar Village this season.

7:00 a.m. — Morning Coffee at Little Joy Coffee

Start your morning off with some quality caffeine from the Little Joy Coffee kiosk located in front of Zel’s Del Mar. The boutique coffee company was made for coffee purists (so don’t expect sugary syrups or complicated items). But anything you order will give you the jolt you need to kick off your day.

8:00 a.m. — Take a Hike

Caffeine in hand, get your blood flowing with a morning hike in the Torrey Pines State Reserve. Heading out in the early morning means you’ll be able to enjoy a peaceful stroll as you savor your coffee and take in the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

10:30 a.m. — Shop for Swimwear

Because spring typically means warmer weather, it’s a great opportunity to start shopping for swimsuit season. As a beach city, Del Mar has several boutiques with plenty of beachwear options. You’re bound to find the perfect swimsuit at Urban Beach House, Rusty Del Mar, or Pebbles by the Beach. And the bonus of finding swimwear in the spring is you can then rock your find all spring and summer long.

11:30 p.m. — Hit the Beach

Since you now have a brand new swimsuit, show it off and hit the beach. Whether you lie out in the sand or dip your feet in the sea, take a few hours, soak up the rays, and just enjoy the warm spring day.

2:30 p.m. — Lunch at Pacifica Breeze Café

Don't stray far from the beach for lunch. At Pacifica Breeze Café, you'll be able to still enjoy views of the beautiful Pacific from their outside patio. Their Acai-Pitaya bowl is perfect for cooling down after sitting in the hot sun, or opt for something a little heartier, like their Buttermilk Fried Chicken sandwich (a Del Mar favorite).

6:30 p.m. — Sunset Dinner at Viewpoint Brewing

Enjoy the dramatic colors of the sky above the San Dieguito Lagoon as you sip on a craft beer and snack on fresh salt and vinegar fries. The indoor-outdoor space of Viewpoint Brewing is perfect for relaxing and reminiscing about your amazing day in Del Mar.

8:00 p.m. — Live Music at Del Mar Plaza

End the night lounging on the Del Mar Plaza deck and listening to live music. With the twinkling stars and the warm night air, the only concern in your mind will be, "Do I ever have to leave?"
